Analysis and Summary of CAISO Interconnection Requests – 1999 to 2023

Overview

Below is the Public Advocates Office analysis of CAISO interconnections requests from 1999-2023 based on available data from CAISO’s interconnection queue as of April 2023. Our analysis shows that interconnection requests increased by 240 percent in 2021 compared to 2020 and net capacity of interconnections requests across the three major investor-owned utilities totaling approximately 58.4 GW for 2021.
